A Filipino man has been charged with killing and eating one of the world’s rarest eagles, the BBC has reported. Farmer Brian Balaon allegedly shot the Philippines eagle two weeks ago. Its remains were found in a national park. Conservationists believe there are fewer than 250 adult birds left in the wild. If found guilty Balaon could be sentenced to up to 12 years in jail.
