A lot of people laugh when I suggest they consider Iran as the destination for their next holiday. Many think I’m joking, or just plain crazy, but I tell them that I’m totally serious. The few people who have made the journey to Iran don’t laugh – they rank it among their favorite countries in the world to visit. After 10 trips to Iran during the past few years, there are clearly many things about this most misunderstood of countries that keep calling me back. If you are looking to get off the well-trodden trail, I say head for Iran.
Here’s why: Iranians have a centuries old reputation for being a very hospitable people, especially when it comes to foreign guests. This dates back to a time when nomadic people roamed the Middle East and Central Asia. The hospitality tradition has only intensified in recent years, and with so few Western travelers coming to Iran these days, many who do go are overwhelmed by the warm welcome. For citizens of the United States who are wary of our government’s relationship with Iran, I can say that Iranians have a more favorable view of Americans than ANY of the other twenty nations I’ve visited since 9/11.

Beijing : The event takes place every year in January and February in a wonderful natural location that will take your breath away, the Longqing Gorge. This Gorge, indeed, is characterised by waterfalls and clean watercourse, by particularly shaped mountains and stones and by fantastic caves, which attract throughout the year a number of visitors. In the seasons when the Longqing Gorge does not host the festival, indeed, it is the ideal destination for people who want to admire a landscape unique in the world. Some of the most appreciated sights are the cave of the hundred flowers (Baihua), and the Shenxianyuan (Immortal) and Jingang temples, but also the 50 m high waterfall that welcomes visitors near the entrance. Visitors can also admire a hill emerging from the water that is similar to a bell, and the Fengguan Isle, which is considered as a symbol of the Longqing Gorge. The isle is surrounded by water, except for one side, where it is closed by high mountains. Looking for some fun and adventure? While Europe will always be a popular tourist destination as well as the beaches of Hawaii and Australia, why not try out Asia travel the next time you plan a vacation? Whether you are going with your family, friends or just by yourself, there surely won’t be any dull moment in the many different countries and cities that you can choose from Asia travel.Take for example, the country of China, which has always been one of the places that easily come to mind when you think of Asia travel. Must-sees while you’re in China are the Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, Great Wall of China, Tiannamen Square, however, these are all just from the Northern part of China, there’s still so much to see in the other parts of this huge country, like the futuristic city of Shanghai and the cuddly pandas that abound in the city of Cheng and the wholesale markets in Guangdong where a lot of the fashion accessories that you see in malls may have come from. Visiting China may be fairly cheap – but it does depend on which city you go to, small cities like Dongguan may have a low cost of living as opposed to the bustling city of Shanghai, which is very similar to the very cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong.

Sitting next to the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari takes over the wildlife gig when the sun sets: the world’s only zoo for nocturnal animals showcases about 130 night-loving species from all animal kingdoms.Even accounting for creative lighting and confinement strategies, the Night Safari recreates as faithfully as possible each animal’s native environment, which frees up the animals to behave almost as if they were still in the wild!
Exploring the Trails
Visitors can embark on several walking trails arranged around certain types of animals. (On the Forest Giants trail, we were lucky to hear two bears fighting, with snarls you could hear all the way in Changi.) The trails are artfully built so you’ll feel as if you were walking through a jungle path, the sounds of nocturnal animals all around you.The zoo also operates a tram circuit that lets visitors cruise around the park without breaking a sweat. Tram tickets cost S$8.00 for adults, S$4.00 for children below 12.Beginning at 8pm, an hour-long “Creatures of the Night” show runs three times a night, with live demonstrations of the abilities of certain nocturnal animals. The show’s piece de resistance involves a python coming uncomfortably close to the audience – any more information would ruin the surprise!

Industry analysts said on Thursday that the Chinese airline is set to end up with a heavy loss in 2008 amidst the country”s slowing domestic economy and the severe economic recession across the globe. During recent days, Air China, the flagship carrier and Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines have been warning that they are most likely to post losses for three quarters of the year due to high fuel costs and weak economy.A senior executive with China Eastern said, “Traffic did not pick up after the Olympics as we had previously expected. The situation improved a bit during the weeklong national holiday in October but the outlook is still murky, given the faltering global economy. There is little doubt that the whole industry will make losses now that the flag carrier has also issued a profit warning.”
